Welcome to the wine section of the site, where I will periodically be sharing some thoughts and flavors on my favorite wines.....
2007 Tormaresca Chardonnay
This is a great Italian chardonnay that gives some intense fruit flavor without a heavy 'oakiness' that some Californian wines have if you are not in the mood for it. We first started serving this wine last year at some of our monthly wine dinners and it was such a success that we added it to our list. From the Southern Italian province of Puglia, this wine is light yellow with aromas of pineapple and citrus, pear flavors and has nice acidity. This chardonnay pairs perfectly with our Lobster Ravioli.

2007 Cecchi Chianti Classico
This in one of my favorite wines, available at most Carino's restaurants - It is produced by the Cecchi family in an area known as Castellina in Chianti right in the heart of Tuscany. The winery is operated by Andrea and Cesare Cecchi, sons of the late Luigi Cecchi, whom we originally started visiting and working with over a decade ago to bring this wine to Carino's. This wine goes great with hearty pasta dishes and meats like the Italian Pot Roast. This chianti is dry with ripe fruit flavors, intense floral bouquet, ruby color that turns garnet with age.

Ruffino Modus
The best deal on the planet is a hidden secret on our list....the Ruffino Modus. This is one of my favorite wines of all-time. It is called a 'Super Tuscan', and this one is a blend of sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon and merlot grapes that will knock your socks off. This is a full bodied wine with big fruit and a little spice that goes great with something hearty, like a grilled steak and some red sauce. The crazy thing about this wine is this - we already sell it at a discount since we like to keep our prices low but the half-price promotion makes this ridiculous - a bottle of wine that should cost about $80-$100 available for about $30. Wow.
